What Fibromyalgia is

What Fibromyalgia is

First to read below (and maybe you had already checked other tons of website before me, so no surprise), let me tell you something straight: THIS is a Label. In medicine and us as humans, we needs to categorize things in life in order to explain and understand better what we are dealing with. Now, in this specific case, WE are different humans. WE suffer from different things and WE can HEAL in different ways. Despite of a label that said otherwise. Said that, you can read below and have a “better understanding” of what we are talking about.

Whoever is living this now, want to know that THIS is more, less and something in between.

Let’s read together:

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas. It affects the muscles, joints, and soft tissues of the body, causing pain and stiffness that can be debilitating.

The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but it is believed to be a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors. It is often associated with other conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, and depression.

Unfortunately, there is no known cure for fibromyalgia. However, there are several treatment options that can help manage the symptoms and improve quality of life.

Medications: There are several medications that can help manage fibromyalgia symptoms, such as pain relievers, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants.

Exercise: Regular exercise can help reduce pain and improve flexibility and strength. Low-impact activities such as walking, swimming, and yoga are recommended.

Stress management: Stress can exacerbate fibromyalgia symptoms, so stress management techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, and progressive muscle relaxation can be helpful.

Physical therapy: Physical therapy can help improve range of motion and reduce pain through stretching and strengthening exercises.

Sleep management: Getting adequate sleep is crucial for managing fibromyalgia symptoms. Developing good sleep habits, such as establishing a regular sleep schedule and avoiding caffeine and alcohol, can be helpful.

Alternative therapies: Some people find relief from fibromyalgia symptoms through alternative therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic care.

It’s important to work with a healthcare professional to develop an individualized treatment plan for fibromyalgia. With proper management, many people with fibromyalgia are able to lead fulfilling lives.

So that’s it. This is a brief summary of what fibromyalgia is. I am going to share more deep things I have been discovered and lived in person, since this “label” says everything and nothing in few paragraphs.

First, what I want to mark is that I am not a medical professional and I am not here to give you any advice about how to treat or cure you.

I am like you. I am a person with a full life, a lot of love and some knowledge mainly felt on my own experience.

I have decided to share with you my path because I wish someone had told me most of the things I have discovered in these 3 years. On other side, I have met a lot of people that with their sharing helped me find my hope back when I had none and I think the best thing we can have is ourselves.
